“How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 36:7 ESV

I wish I could tell you in detail every story in my life, where God made possible what to me was impossible.

I would start by telling you about the prayers of a 6-year-old girl already tucked in bed, inviting the Lord Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Saviour, and asking Him to take away any monsters in her room because she was afraid of the dark. She slept soundly that night and many nights afterwards, even during some of the most difficult seasons that were to follow in her life.

I would include stories of waiting patiently for the Lord’s timing and finding out that the wait was very much worth it and other stories of being obedient to the Lord’s voice no matter how much ‘different’ that made me look. Sometimes waiting or being obedient involved discomfort or even suffering, but the goodness of the results always greatly outweighed the suffering that was experienced. Not to mention, having a clear conscience knowing I pleased God in my decision gave me such peace that can only come from Him.

I would end with an unbelievable story of watching a friend who for a year and a half went through a very tough depressed state to the point of near paralysis. There were many people’s tearful prayers lifted up for her. She came out of it with strong faith in Jesus, a faith that was even stronger than the faith she had before she fell into this difficult state.

The Bible teaches Christ’s followers to not worry but to, “…cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7). Granted this can be easier said than done, but when you purpose in your heart to do it and be persistent in bringing your thoughts back on casting your anxieties on Him, you experience the peace from God that surpasses all understanding. If you are going through a tough season in your life, remember that as a follower of the Lord Jesus, you are not alone. On the contrary, you have a very mighty God on your side who cares immensely for you. He loves you so much that He died for you. He wants you to talk to Him and pour out your heart to Him. Once you do, leave your circumstances in His hands, knowing and trusting that He will take care of the situation. Remain obedient to His voice, keeping your eyes on Him, surrounding yourself with His word, His people, and His things. He has promised He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5), but instead, He will protect you under His mighty hands and bring you out of this season in His timing.

One day, when you look back at this difficult time, you will be filled with songs of praise and gratitude as He opens your eyes to see how He was working in your life through it all.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22
